Who is Iron Lotus Education?

Skyler Marsh is an award-winning cutting specialist, educator, and curriculum innovator whose work is redefining how hair cutting is taught and understood. Entering the industry in 2007, Skyler built his career behind the chair before moving into education, where he discovered his true passion—helping hairdressers develop clarity, confidence, and technical mastery.

Across his years with Paul Mitchell Schools in Springfield Missouri, Wichita and Overland Park Kansas, as well as his contributions to Paul Mitchell Advanced Education, Skyler has become known for his uncommon ability to make complex technical concepts simple, visual, and usable. He believes hair cutting is a language—one that any learner can read, translate, and repeat when it’s taught with intention.

Skyler has developed diagrams, theory systems, and interactive learning tools that support every kind of learner, converting traditionally word-heavy lessons into approachable, visual, and hands-on education. His teaching centers on the principles of elevation, over-direction, sectioning, shape, and cause-and-effect, guiding learners toward the mindset shift that turns guessing into knowing.

In 2023, Skyler was honored as one of the CER Top 20 People Changing Career Education, recognized for bringing modern teaching strategies, digital tools, and learner-centered curriculum design into cosmetology classrooms nationwide.

Today, Skyler continues to expand his body of work through innovative theory courses, workbooks, and video-based education—always with one mission: to give hairdressers the clarity they deserve, the confidence they’ve been missing, and an education that respects how they actually learn.
